Three members of a notorious robbery gang terrorising communities within the Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Local Government Areas and those along the Ugbokolo–Enugu federal highway have been arrested by the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) when they mounted a road block on that axis of the federal highway.
The Voice gathered that, the notorious robbery gang were arrested when members of the Community Volunteer Guards were on patrol as they received a distress call that some group of men suspected to be armed robbers were operating along the Odoba hill blocking the highway which led to serious traffic congestion and they immediately swung into action.
It was further gathered that, the suspected robbers were about to leave the scene of the robbery when they sighted the Community Volunteer Guards and took to their heels. However, luck ran out of the three as they were arrested while others escaped into the nearby forest.
The incident which occurred on Wednesday, 29 November 2023 at about 8:45 pm witnessed slot of hold- up along the Ugboklo– Enugu federal highway as many motorists were forced to park for fear of been robbed.
The three suspects have been handed over to the police.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State police command, SP Catherine Sewuese Anene said she is yet to receive the information.
