NSEMA distributes relief materials to flood victims

Niger State government, through the State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), has donated assorted relief materials to victims of the recent flood disaster in the state.

The Director General of NSEMA, Ahmed Inga disclosed this during the flag-off of distribution of relief materials to 382 communities affected by flood across the state in Kuchiworo community of Lavun Local Government Area of the state.

He reassured them that the agency, with support from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as the state government, will not rest on its oars in providing palliative measures to ease hardships faced by victims of the flood.

Inga said the distribution of relief materials to victims was a directive given by the state Governor, Abubakar Bello to bring succour to victims of flood and other disaster related issues.

He mentioned the relief items presented to include; bags of rice, maize, beans, groundnut and red oil, mattresses, buckets, clothings, cups and baby diapers.

In their separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries appreciated the state government for the gesture and solicited for more assistance from well to do individuals to enable them get back on their feet.

A recent report by NSEMA disclosed that no fewer than 50,000 people have been affected with 40 deaths recorded so far, across 382 communities and 21 out of the 25 local government areas hit by the 2022 flood in the state.
