NSG donates N10m to winners of national competitions

The Nasarawa State Government has donated the sum of N10 million as prize for winners of various National competitions held during the year,  2020.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Othman Bala Adam distributed the  cash awards to Athletes last week in Lafia.

According to him, the gesture was part of the fulfillment of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s promise to revive sporting activities in the state, describing the exercise as one of its kind.

Hon Bala Adam  informed  the Athletes that the state looks up to them for better performance just as he reassured of the ministry’s commitment to having  robust activities in this new year.

Speaking on behalf of about 70 Athletes, Joy Iorguma and Beauty Timothy, while receiving the  various cash donations given them courtesy of the state government , said the gesture was  commendable and a morale booster to them.

According to the athletes, “it will encourage us to do better in subsequent events with a view to bringing more laurels to the state given the kind of gesture we have received”.

Joy Iorguma a disabled athlete who received N400,000 and Beauty Timothy who received N250,000 respectively called on fellow Athletes to judiciously use the funds while calling on them to  step up their games for better benefits.

On his part, Coach Kingsley Enyie, said government has boosted their confidence to soar higher.
