The Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has assured the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of continued synergy to rid the state of crimes and criminalities.
The Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Comrade Abu Nmodu gave the assurance during a courtesy visit on the the State Commandant of NSCDC, Willie Elijah Etim at the IBB Pen House in Minna recently.

Assistant Secretary, NUJ, Niger State Council that journalists under the umbrella of the union are professionals practicing in accordance with the ethical codes of journalism, stressing that members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in the state have a long history of responsible journalism.

He said so far, no fewer than 80 journalists in the state have improved their skills from the Council’s training and retraining initiative within and outside the state in order to keep abreast with the dynamism of the journalism profession.
Earlier, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Comdt. Willie Elijah Etim said the aim of the visit was to seek for improved collaboration between the two organisations, especially in the area of publicity and media coverage.
He intimated the NUJ chairman of activities of the Command, adding that the Command was into Safe School Initiative aimed at eliminating any incident that poses a threat to security and safety of schools in the state.
The newly deployed Commandant pointed out that the Command was aware of the importance of collaboration with various institutions and organisations as proactive means of checking insecurity, hence the visit.
He added that the Command has a robust Crisis Management Directorate that strives through synergy with other agencies to safeguard lives and property in the state.
