The National Association of Nurses and Midwives, Taraba State chapter, has elected new officials to pilot its affairs.
The election took place during the recent delegates’ conference of the association held at Nurses and Midwives secretariat complex, Jalingo.
Those elected were: Comrades Nathaniel Pius Maige, Chairman; John Efficiency, Vice Chairman; Clara Yamusa, Treasurer; Anthony Zakari, Financial Secretary ; Silas Bwucha, Public Relations Officer; Clement Ayuba, Auditor I and Abel Williams, Auditor II
In his post election speech on behalf of other executive members, the Chairman, Comrade Maige thanked God and delegates for the honour and confidence reposed in them, saying, “we cannot take the confidence reposed in us for granted.”
He promised to run an inclusive and open door policy in the course of their administration and assured them that they will work towards driving home benefits for members and called on members to unit as a family.
The Chairman charged Nurses and Midwives to imbibe the sprite of hard work, diligence and dedication, and work as professionals.
He thanked Governor Kefas Agbu for providing a level playing grand for a successful election and appealed to the state government to take the welfare of Nurses and Midwives seriously as part of motivation.
In a goodwill message, the National President of the association, who was represented by the Deputy National President, Abubakar Sharifi congratulated the newly elected officials and commended the delegates for conducting a peaceful and orderly election.
He urged the chairman to work with other Exco members and carry all members along, and warned the Nurses and Midwives against truancy and absenteeism.
The National President called on the Taraba State government to advance welfare packages for health workers.
