The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has described former Governor of Anambra state and presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi as one of the finest candidates the country has, with the capacity to deliver the country from its current woes.
The governor stated this Tuesday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi when the Labour Party presidential candidate made a stop over to see the governor, while on a visit to see the two paramount rulers in the state, the Tor Tiv and Och’Idoma.
He explained that the Labor Party candidate can make things work in the nation, stating that he has all it takes, in terms of educational qualification, character, and passion for humanity among other qualities to deliver the nation from its current challenges. The governor added that if he were not a member of the PDP, he would have worked for the Labour Party presidential candidate.
“You have all it takes, in terms of education, character, in terms of performance, in terms of reaching out, in terms of industrialization, and passion to ensure that our country is liberated from where we are; out of insecurity to security, and out of economic woes to economic vibrancy,” he stressed.
Governor Ortom said, “with the current situation of the country, Nigerians should not be looking at party or ethnicity but the capacity of the personality that will be able to address the lingering challenges in the nation.”
He advised Obi to negotiate power with other leading presidential candidates with common commitment to serving the people.
The governor commended Obi for his kind gestures towards the state, stating that he admires the courage and commitment of the presidential candidate, and enjoined him to continue with his peaceful campaigns and prayed for God’s blessings upon him.
Obi commended Governor Ortom for his care for the people of the state and his efforts in securing the lives and properties of the people. He said, “to have one Nigeria we must love and care for one another, in order to build a better nation that is secure and peaceful.”
