The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has stated that he will lead Nigeria well, if voted as president.
According to Obi, who made this pledge recently when he paid a courtesy call on the Idoma paramount ruler, Och’Idoma HRM John Elaigwu at his palace in Otukpo, Benue State, he came purposely to pay homage and personally intimate HRM of his aspiration to lead Nigeria into its desired place in the comity of nations, by contesting in the 2023 general elections.
He also said “my heart desire is to offer myself as a tool that God will use to bring about real transformation to Nigeria as a Nation.”
Obi further stated that he anchored his viewpoint on character, capacity, courage, competence, and commitment to change Nigeria from a consumption economy to a production nation.
In his remark, the Och’Idoma V expressed delight over the Labour Party presidential candidate visitation to his temporary palace in Otukpo, the ancestral headquarters of the Idoma kingdom.
HRM also stressed on the true yearnings and expectations of Nigerians, saying, “we as a people are not looking for a sentimental, tribal or religious president but the president that will possess the attributes which will be built and chronicled on seven Cs based on character, capacity, courage, competence, commitment, clarity and above all charity to bring meaningful and visible development to the country.”
The paramount ruler assured Obi and all the presidential candidates of their prayers, and that the will of God will be done, especially for those who are passionate to take this country out of the current deplorable situation they find ourselves in.
He further stated that, the basic fundamental human needs is safety and security, which is currently a disillusionment in the country. He, however, prayed for God’s intervention and mercy on the country.
Present were Chief Dennis Ogbu, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, who represented Governor Samuel Ortom on the visit, Labour Party Zone C Senatorial candidate, Joseph Ojobo, Major General Harrison Adoga (Rtd) an elder statesman of LP and the state party Chairman.
