The Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agaba’Idu John Elaigwu has condemned the incessant kidnapping and criminality in Benue State and particularly in Idoma land, and calls for security agencies to be more vigilant, especially in this Yuletide.
The call was made at his palace recently, following the kidnap of the Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu and three others by unidentified gunmen along the Ado-Otukpo road last Sunday.
The Och’Idoma strongly condemned the increasing act of criminality in the land and warned Idoma children who are involved in the act to desist from it or henceforth face the wrath of God.
HRM said the core value of Idoma tradition encourages hard work and abhors every act of criminality, and counselled that “young men and women should embrace the virtues that would put the Idoma nation in positive light.”
He, therefore, called on government at all levels to rise to the occasion and nip the security situation in the bud.
He also stressed that the primary purpose of every government is the protection of life and property, insisting that the country and citizenry is currently in need of protection and the sanctity of life.
The Och’Idoma prayed for a change in kidnapper’s lives and said that, “the grace and mercy of God is still available for them if they repent.”
