Ortom heads PDP campaigns in Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom is to head the State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections.

He will be deputised by the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Titus Uba, while Dr Cletus Tyokyaa and Ediga Akpa are to serve as Director and Secretary of the campaign council respectively.

This was part of resolutions reached at the party’s Expanded Stakeholders Meeting held recently in Makurdi.

In a keynote address, Governor Ortom charged members of the party to remain in unity and focus on the task of rescuing Nigeria from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level.

He said efforts must be geared towards the consolidation of victory of the PDP in the state in the coming polls for greater democratic dividends to the people.

The meeting which was jointly chaired by Governor Ortom and Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Isaac Mffo, revealed the organisational structures for its campaign, as directed by the national secretariat is to comprise of State Campaign Council, State Campaign Management Committee, Local Government Campaign Committee, Ward Campaign Committee, Kindred Campaign Committee and Polling Unit Coordination Committee.

Other members of the State Campaign Management Committee include Barr Mue Clement to serve as Legal Adviser, Moses Audu in charge of Field Operations, Major General (Rtd) Gabriel Edeh Ode for Security Matters, and Bemgba Iortyom as Spokesman.

According to information by the Spokesman of the Campaign Council and State Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, the stakeholders declared readiness for electoral battle that will give them resounding victory at the polls.

Stakeholders stated their resolve to remain united and focused, even to diligently canvass support from the electorate towards the desired results.

In attendance at the meeting included Deputy Governor, Engr Benson Abounu, Senators Gabriel Suswam, Orker Jev and Abba Moro; PDP BoT Member, Mrs Margaret Icheen, deputy governorship candidate of the party, John Ngbede, members of the party’s caucus in the House of Representatives, as well as those in the state Assembly, among others.
