Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has resolved the lingering dispute within the Executive Council and members of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Benue State Chapter.
Governor Ortom who is the National Patron of NURTW and the mediator in the dispute, made this known Sunday, while briefing journalists, shortly after the meeting at the Conference Hall, Governor’s Lodge, Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
According to him, the meeting which was graced by the National President, NURTW, Prof. Bankole Barewa, represented by Alhaji Jubrin Kerefi, amongst other top national leaders of the union, resolved that all the aggrieved parties should withdraw their petitions against the Benue State Chairman of NURTW, Comrade Jerome Ukor.
He explained that, the meeting also encouraged the state NURTW Chairman, Comrade Ukor to always abide by the constitution of the union, in steering its affairs, as well as carry all members along.
Explaining further, the governor said they also resolved that the Vice Chairman of NURTW, Daudu Branch, Guma Local Government Area should take over and lead the EXCO to re-open the branch which was closed down, since the demise of the chairman.
He encouraged members of the union to work together, as a family, for the progress and development of the union, while he thanked the national body for working assiduously for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
