The Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, has urged all the 36 state Houses of Assembly in the country to expedite action and pass the Fund Management Bill in their respective states for effective implementation of financial autonomy for state Legislatures and Judiciary.
Conference equally urged the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) to suspend its ongoing strike as a committee to resolve all the lingering issues of PASAN has already been set up.
These among others were part of resolutions reached at the end of the 1st quarterly Conference of Nigerian Speakers meeting, held in Bauchi State at the weekend.
The Chairman of the conference and Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, while briefing journalists at the end of its technical session, said conference also expressed concern over the spate of insecurity in the country.
The conference therefore, called on the Federal Government to change the security architecture in the country so as to reflect on the realities on ground and commended the community policing initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, describing it as a way out.
