From Teryima Ajijah, Jos

Council Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area in Plateau State, Barr Rimven Zulfa, who was purportedly impeached by his council legislators
has said the impeachment meted on his person by the local legislative arm of his council has been nullified by the Plateau State House of Assembly for lack of due-process.

The embattled council chairman, revealed the resolution of the legislature to journalists in Jos, during a press conference held at the Plateau Club on Thursday.

According to him, the purported impeachment was nullified by the Plateau State House of Assembly during Wednesday sitting at the state Assembly complex.

Zulfa stated that the Plateau State House of Assembly has nullified the impeachment process on him which was carried out by some members of his legislative council.

According to the embattled council chairman, the motion kicking against his removal from office was raised at the floor of the state legislature by Member representing Pankshin North, Philip Dasun which was seconded by his Shendam counterpart, James Kwapfuan.

It will be recalled that members of the legislators who are all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Langtang North LGC on Tuesday had carried out the said impeachment on the council chairman, alleging mismanagement of funds meant for them.

Barr Zulfa, however, debunked the said allegations saying; “these are lies from the pit of hell on my person; as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North, my relationship with my Councillors is cordial, we are one big family and we would resolve our differences soon.”

He claimed he was not served  with any impeachment notice therefore, could not defend himself.

According to Zulfa, the Speaker of the Plateau State house of assembly, Yakubu Sanda, therefore, declared that there was no official communication from the council to the state legislators for the removal of the council chairman, therefore, faulted the process.

He reported that the state Assembly has mandated it’s House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy, been Chaired by Ibrahim Baba Hassan, Member, representing Jos North/North, to investigate the process of the said impeachment and report findings to the House within one week.

Zulfa thanked the speaker, and members of the state Assembly, the people of the state and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support over his travails.
