The Plateau state House of Assembly has passed a vote-of-confidence on its Speaker, Mr Abok Ayuba, for his leadership quality.
Chairman, House Committee on Information and Member representing Pankshin North-APC, Philip Dasun, told journalists Thursday shortly after an emergency sitting of the House.
According to Mr Dasun, the purported impeachment of Mr Abok Ayuba as Speaker of the state Assembly was illegal, and can not stand.
Mr Dasun informed journalists that six members of the assembly were suspended during the sitting for violation of the rules of the state assembly.
He named the suspended legislators to include; Daniel Nanlong, Mikang; Sale Yopmong, Kanam; Eric Dakogol, Quanpan North; Baba Hassan, Jos North; Bello Mohammed, Quanpan South; and Sanda Yakubu, Pengana; all of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Mr Sanda Yakubu was earlier this morning purportedly elected Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly.
The suspension of the said lawmakers, according to the House Committee on Information chairman, is indefinite.
Mr Dasun revealed that the Thursday sitting was to invite commissioner nominees for screening, but the motion was put on hold to deliberate on other urgent public importance matters.
He said the emergency sitting was presided over by Mr Abok Ayuba as Speaker of the state Assembly, and had 12 members in attendance, two others took excuse from the sitting.
Reacting on his purported impeachment, the embattled Ayuba, who is also an APC member representing Jos East Constituency said he is not impeached.
Ayuba thanked the legislature for having confidence in his leadership. He appealed for calm, saying the political gimmick against him will not stand the test of time.
