Following threats by some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stemming from the just concluded APC party primaries toward contesting the forthcoming local government elections in Plateau State, state party executive have set up a 15-man reconciliation committee to reconcile affected aspirants
Acting APC Chairman in Plateau state, Enoch Fanmark, while inaugurating the members on Thursday at the party Secretariat in Jos, tasked the committee to ensure that all aggrieved members are at peace with the party.
Mr Fanmark told the committee that the APC Appeal panel earlier set up by the party to look into the issues have submitted its report to the party at the secretariat.
The Plateau APC acting chairman said the appeal panel has crossed checked on all the petitions brought before it by the aggrieved contestants; therefore, the 15 man reconciliation committee should use the report as a guide to adjudicate.
It will be recalled that most APC aspirants who contested local government chairmanship primaries in APC were allegedly shortchanged.
It is on notice that one of the contestant in Kanke Local Government who scored the highest votes during party primaries was not declared as the winner of the contest, rather one who got 17 votes against 1,632 votes has been declared as the candidate of APC in Kanke.
The 15-man reconciliation committee are to converge at state zonal APC Secretariat of Pankshin, for the central zone, Shendam for southern zone, while the northern zone sittings of the committee shall will be held in Jos, at the party headquarters.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman for central zone, Samuel Mafuel, a one time local government executive chairman said they will do their best to deliver on the mandate assigned them.
