Plateau LGA boss rejects his suspension

The Executive chairman of Jos North Local government council of Plateau State Shehu Bala Usman, has said the Plateau House of Assembly lack constitutional powers to suspend him from office.
The council chairman made his position known to the public during a press briefing held in his office, at the council Secretariat in Jos.
Speaking on allegations of financial misconduct leveled against him, the Jos North Local government council Chairman Shehu Bala Usman, denied doing any wrong.
It will be recalled that governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, had suspended 17 Executive council chairmen of the state following recommendations by the Plateau State House of Assembly.
The Plateau state legislators had during one of it plenary, accused the 17 council chairmen of financial misappropriation, and non adherence to procedures in award of contracts, therefore requested the governor Mutfwang to suspend the local government officials to pevy way for their investigations.
However, the Executive council chairman of Jos North local government pledged his loyalty to the state government, led by governor Caleb Mutfwang, suggested that the governor should interface with them to accertain facts.
Speaking separately, with Journalists, a member of the House of Assembly who represents Jos North North constituency, Baba Hassan, who is also the chairman House committee on local government, told Journalists that his colleagues acted in error.
Baba Hassan reiterated that the legislature has no powers to suspend the Elected Executive council chairmen.
