Plateau PDP forms parallel executives

Less than 24 hours after a state Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Plateau held its Congress and elected itsofficials; a faction of the party led by former Senator Jeremiah Useni has dissociated itself from the Congresses, saying it will announce it officials soon.
Sen Useni made their position known during a stakeholders meeting of the faction of the party.
Senator Useni, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the 2019 elections, and a former minister of Federal Capital Territory Abuja, said the PDP Congress held on Saturday was an illegal
“We will form our EXCO, any executive position that two or more people are contesting, one person should be made to serve the position; we will not accept the results of the Congresses, it’s a charade” he emphasized
Senator Useni accused the national Secretariat of the PDP of supporting illegality.
It will be recalled that the Saturday Congresses of the PDP had produced Hon Chris Hassan as Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Plateau State.
Captain Bitrus Golen, deputy Chairman , Secretary, Emmanuel Tuang and John Akans was elected Public Relations Officer among other party officials.
Chairman of the Plateau PDP Congress Electoral Committee Major General Amnon Kalayi Kwasbebe rtd, annouced the results on Sunday, said Hassan pulled 1,649 votes to defeat 3 other candidates.
Hon Hassan, a one time Commissioner of works during governor Jonah Jang, was at one time, Vice Chairman Plateau North of the PDP in the state.
Over 1,600 delegates across the state participated in the Plateau PDP Congress.
The Sen Jeremiah Useni faction of the PDP has former deputy Senator Ibrahim Mantu, former minister of Sport Hon Damishi Sango, a two time house of representative member Hon Bitrus Kaze, three former speakers of the state legislature among many others.
While the Chris Hassan group has former governor Jonah Jang, a serving Senator Istifanus Gyang, a member of the house of representative for Langtang north and south Hon Beni Lar, among several serving members, both state national assembly Legislators.
