Plateau PDP stakeholders assure Atiku of support

From Teryima Ajijah, Jos

Some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State have assured the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of their support, and urged him to ignore threats in some quarters that members of the party will not vote for him.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the meeting, a former Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Prof. Shedrack Best, said Atiku will win Plateau State without Wike’s support.

Prof. Best said Plateau electorates are prepared to massively campaign and vote for Atiku to become President of Nigeria come 2023 general election.

The meeting which lasted several hours was convened by Amb. Yahaya Kwande, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland at his residence in Jos, the Plateau state capital on Monday.

However, most state executives of the PDP, such as Jonah Jang with the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barr Caleb Mutfwang, were absent at the meeting; however, Prof Best said invitations for the meeting were extended to all stakeholders.

Prof. Best, who equally aspired for the governorship seat of the state in the June, 2022 PDP primaries however noted that Barr Mutfwang sent apologies to the meeting that he was out of the state.

He affirmed that Mutfwang is also in support of Atiku.

The meeting had in attendance Damishi Sango, Istifanus Mwansat and Gregory Nyalong among others.

There has been rumours making rounds that former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang alongside Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State had allegedly said they will not support the candidature of Atiku.
