The Benue State police command, have arraigned three persons, Virginia Ebunam 41, of Agbo village in Makurdi, Catherine Tersoo 32, of Genyi, Yandev in Gboko and Mnguember Toryila 21also of Genyi, Yandev in Gboko, before a Makurdi Cbief Magistrate court, charged with criminal conspiracy and attempt to commit trafficking in person.
Prosecuting police officer, Asp Hyacinth Gbakor told the court that on the 11th September, 2020 one Toryila Ayila of Genyi, Yandev in Gboko came to the B Division station and reported that on the same date, he received an information that the mother of his child, Mnguember Terna of the same address, conspired with one Catherine Tersoo and wanted to sell their one year three months old child, Terfa Toryila to Virginia Ebunam of Agbo village in Makurdi, at the cost of two hundred and twenty thousand naira but were caught by the police.
The Prosecutor stated that during police investigation, the three accused persons were arrested for committing the alleged crime.
When the case came up for mention, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction while prosecution said investigation was still in progress and asked for another date.
The Chief Magistrate, Vincent Kor Esq granted bail to the defendants in the sum of two hundred thousand naira each and one surety each in the like sum and adjourned the case to the 12th November, 2020 for further mention.
