Police arraigns trader over rape in Otukpo

The Benue State Police command has arraigned one Inalegwu Oche of Otukpo town before a Makurdi Upper Area court, for allegedly raping a ten year old girl.
Prosecuting Police Officer, Sgt Frederick Orfega told the court that Theresa Ogbu of Asa in Otukpo town reported to the police that on the 22nd of August, 2020 Mr Inalegwu Oche forcefully held her ten year old daughter and dragged her into his shop where he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The police stated that during its investigation, the suspect was arrested for committing the crime.
When the case came up for mention, the plea of the accused was not taken for want of jurisdiction while prosecution said investigation was still ongoing and asked for another date.
The Sole Judge, Aondohemba Gwar ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Correctional Center, Makurdi and adjourned the case to the 29th of September,2020 for further mention.
