Police kill kidnapper, parade 10 suspects

Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka has said his men killed a suspected kidnapper, and recovered an AK-47 in the state even as others are at large.

“Police operatives struck and gunned down one of the suspect, while others fled with various degrees of injuries. Exhibits recovered from the suspect include an AK-47 rifle,” the CP said.

The police chief said efforts are being intensified towards apprehending the criminals who fled.

CP Onyeka stated this Friday in Jos, while parading ten suspects, among them four kidnappers, who were alleged to have been terrorising Wase Local Government Area of southern Plateau State.

According to the CP, the suspected kidnappers are among those who abducted a district head in Wase three months ago.

Also paraded were three suspects Shuiabu Abubakar, 24-years, Sale Hassan, 23-years, and one Adamu Saidu, 26-years were arrested for rustling cows belong to one Alhaji Sale Bahago worth 60 million naira; but 16 of the said cows were later recovered.

The suspects all confessed to committing the said crime leveled against them while speaking with journalists.

The Voice gathered that four of the kidnappers paraded were between the ages of 20 and 24 years old.

Speaking on the high rate of kidnap in Plateau State, CP Onyeka worried that most of the kidnap cases are linked with relations of victims.

“Based on the study I have carried out here on the Plateau, there is no case of kidnap that took place without the involvement of an insider,” he stated.

He used the avenue and confirmed the recent kidnap of two clergymen at Maraban Jama’ar, assuring that the clerics shall be rescued unhurt.

Among suspects paraded before news men at the Police Command headquarters were suspected cattle rustlers, kidnappers, rapists and railway vandals.
