The Benue State police command has rescued six kidnap victims and arrested four suspects in Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.
The Voice gathered that, four girls and two women were on their way to the farm in the morning when they were kidnapped in Utonkon.
The suspects, Mohammed Ibrahim, Usman Sule, Azoto Alhaji and Abubakar Shehu all conspired among themselves to commit the crime.
The incident was immediately reported to the Police Divisional headquarters in Ado after the victims failed to return home and their whereabouts could not be ascertained.
The police immediately swung into action in collaboration with other security agencies; trailed and stormed the hideout of the kidnappers in Agbanor village in Okpokwu Local Government Area which has boundary with Ado Local Government Area.
However, on sighting the police, one of the suspects engaged them in a gun battle but bowed down to the superior power of the police and was arrested with one single barrel gun loaded with two live cartridges with three other suspects arrested within the area.
The Voice further gathered that, during the operation, a search was conducted in their hideout which led to the rescue of the six victims who have now been reunited with their families after receiving treatment at undisclosed hospital.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Benue State command, SP Catherine Anene, investigation has been intensified to arrest other suspects now at large.
