The Acting District Head of Akpa, Chief Odeh Ofaka, has charged the newly elected Exco of Otobi Community Development Association (OCDA), to put the interest of Otobi community and that of Akpa District, first in all their dealings.
Chief Ofaka, who gave the charge on Monday, when members of the Exco paid him a courtesy visit at his palace at Akpa-Otobi, specifically admonished them to hands-off sale of land and other related matters as they do not fall within their jurisdiction.
He explained that, the administration and all land matters are exclusively reserved for chiefs and elders of Akpaland while stressing that the collection of Otobi water dues is not in any way the core mandate of the association, hence they should also desist from collecting such.
“I would like to advise you not to indulge yourselves in the sales of land and other related matters as those don’t fall under your jurisdiction.
“Sales of land and administration of land is a singular reserve of chiefs and elders of the community.
“The collection of water dues for Otobi Water Works is not also under your purview, so you will do well not to involve yourselves in that,” he said.
The Ag district head, who congratulated the new officials of OCDA for their emergence as leaders of the organisation further advised them to use their new positions to attract development to Akpaland instead of tapping from the meagre resources at home.
Responding on behalf of the new leadership of OCDA, the President General of the Association, John Anyebe, thanked the royal father for his fatherly advice and promised to uphold the virtues and royalty of Akpa Traditional Council at all times.
He further promised that his organisation would follow the instructions of Chief Ofaka to the letter even as he sought his royal blessings to enable his Exco to succeed in moving Otobi community and Akpa District to higher heights.
The Voice gathered that the OCDA president was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary General of the organization, Sam Eji and all other key officials of the association.
