By Egbe Attah, Otukpo
In her drive to make her constituents self-reliant, the Member representing Otukpo-Ohimini Federal Constituency, Lady Blessing Onuh, the Ofianya K’Idoma, has organized a 3-day training for her constituents on the production of soap, hand-sanitizer, dettol and morning fresh.
While issuing certificates, starter packs as well as take – off capital to the beneficiaries recently, at the Eylum Memorial Centre, Otukpo, the Reps Member, said the move was her modest attempt at empowering them to be self-reliant.
She tasked the beneficiaries who are mostly women and youths selected across the council wards of the constituency to go home and put what they had learnt at the training into practice and to also duplicate the knowledge by training others at the home front, stressing that, the move would not only raise the standard of living of the beneficiaries, but, also, boost the rural economy.
In a related development, Lady Blessing Onuh, has charged the members of ‘Ogigo Mebe’ Woman Association, to show love to one another as she, their patron, has always shown them, pointing out that, without love there would be no meaningful development in the society, especially, in the lives of the women folks.
The lawmaker, who gave the charge while inaugurating the members of the Ohimini Local Government chapter of the association, advised them to hold regular meetings in their domain as that would keep them abreast of members’ problems and also make the association stronger in the area.
She further urged all women to stop being passive, but, come forward to play active roles in politics, saying, as mothers imbued with natural love, them alone could bring the needed political change in the society.
All who spoke at the event, including, Dr Samuel Onuh, Dr John Ochayi, extolled the leadership qualities of the lawmaker and invoked God’s blessings upon her.
The high point of the event was the donation of wrappers and money to the members of the association by the parliamentarian, with the beneficiaries singing songs of thanksgiving.
