Diligent handling of land issues by Bernard Unenge, the Benue State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Solid Minerals has shown tremendous improvement in land administration where disputes have also been reduced to the barest minimum.
Second class Chiefs from Gwer and Lobi intermediate areas of Tiv land in Benue State made this observation Thursday when they paid a royal visit to the commissioner at his Makurdi official residence to bless him.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Media Aide to the commissioner, Jacob Shom and made available to The Voice.
According to the release, the royal fathers, led by Ter Gwer, HRH Chief Dominic Akpe, said the visit was also to encourage Unenge for the good work he has been doing as commissioner. The royal fathers particularly appreciated Governor Samuel Ortom and the commissioner for the digitization of land administration in the state through the Benue Geographic Information Service project.
They commended the commissioner for his humility and disposition to peace which has also strengthened unity among the people of Makurdi as well as the entire MINDA axis.
In their unanimous speech, Ter Gwer HRH Chief Dominic Akpe, Ter Tyoshin (Nagi II) HRH Chief Daniel Abomtse, Ter Guma HRH Chief Dennis Shemberga and Ter Makurdi HRH Chief Vincent Aule, expressed gratitude to Ortom for finding Bernard Unenge worthy to serve in his administration. They urged the commissioner to continue to justify the confidence reposed in him by the governor.
They also appreciated the wife of the commissioner, Mrs Ann Unenge for her relentless support to her husband which has enabled him to succeed in his endeavours.
In his response, the commissioner said he was overwhelmed by the visit and expressed happiness to the royal fathers for the visit. He said he will continue to do his best as commissioner.
Unenge expressed gratitude to God and Governor Samuel Ortom for his appointment and promised not to disappoint them, stressing that he and his household are richly blessed with the visit.
Highlights of the visit were prayers and royal blessings on the commissioner and his household by the traditional rulers.
