The paramount ruler of Idoma nation, His Royal Majesty, Dr John Elaigwu, has commended the principal of Federal Government College, Otobi -Akpa, Benue State, Mr.Gabriel Amudipe, for his efforts in lifting the school to an enviable height.

The Royal Father who gave the commendation at the 16th Edition of Annual Speech Day, Graduation/ Prize-Giving Ceremony of the college, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the institution recently, said the principal has raised the school from obscurity to world class institution.

The Och’Idoma, who was represented by the District Head of Akpa, Chief Wilson Adikwu Ahola, described the principal as an academic phenomenon whose sojourn in Otobi has changed the sorry story of the institution academically and infrastructural wise.

“Nothing is too big to reward you for your transformational exploits in Akpa and indeed Idoma land and I promise not to hesitate to support any move taken by my subjects to honour you,” he stated.

He congratulated the graduating students and charged them to be of good behaviour at all times, within and out the school.

In his speech, the college Principal, Mr. Amudipe, charged the students to be good ambassadors of their alma mater.

Mr. Gabriel Amudipe, principal, FGCO

“I salute the courage of the graduating students for excelling despite all odds to see this day. I adjure you to be self-discipline, shun cultism and always do what is right, have a clear sense of purpose and integrity. When what you look for does not come at the expected time, wait for it with patience. Be good ambassadors of Federal Government College, Otobi, where diligence and character go hand- in- hand,” he said.
Giving his annual report, the FGCO helmsman said that his administration made remarkable impacts in the areas of staff development, discipline, academics, extra- curriculum activities, students’ welfare as well as infrastructural facilities which enhanced teaching and made life worthwhile for the College community.

He thanked parents, staff and students of the institution for working with him to take the school higher while also acknowledging the Federal Ministry of Education and other relevant bodies for creating the enabling environment for his administration to succeed even as he called for more support.

Others who spoke on the occasion including the chairman of the occasion, Dr Joseph Ogwiji, former PTA Chairman of College, Mr. Ema Lawrence and the PTA chairman, Adakole Ameh, commended the giant strides made by Federal Government College, Otobi under the leadership of Mr. Amudipe and called for sustenance.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving students and staff.
