Security operatives nab 2 kidnappers in Makurdi

Members of Operation Zenda of the Benue State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers at a settlement behind old NEPA Quarters, Otukpo road, Makurdi.

Special Adviser to the Benue State  Governor on Security, Col Paul Hemba (Rtd) and the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, disclosed this Friday in Makurdi while addressing journalists.

Abass and Hemba disclosed that two out of a four-man gang of suspected kidnappers met their waterloo along Otukpo road, where Operation Zenda of the Benue State Police Command intercepted them.

“Kidnappers who specialize in kidnapping women had, overtime, collected millions of naira from their victims as ransome,” Abbas stated.

He explained that efforts were ongoing to arrest the two suspects, who are currently on the run.

Husband of one of the victims and a former Chairman of Vandeikya Local Government,l Council, Ibrahim Anor, in an interview with journalists narrated how his wife was kidnapped from their home in Makurdi and kept in the kidnappers den for nine (9) days but was eventually released after the payment of 3 million naira ransome.

The two suspected kidnappers, Iorver Solomon, 25 and Choho Teryima, 30, who confessed to the crime, disclosed that economic hardship pushed them into the act.

The building used by the suspected kidnappers was demolished by the state government in compliance with the Benue State Law on Kidnapping.
