The Senator representing Plateau Northern senatorial district at the National Assembly, Sen Istifanus Gyang and Member, House of Representatives for Riyom/Barkinladi, Dr Simon Mwadkwon, have expressed shock over the death of the seven airmen in the Sunday aircraft crash in Abuja.
The lawmakers, in two separate press releases on Monday, particularly mourned the demise of Flight Lt Henry Piyo, who hail from Plateau state.
According to Senator Gyang’s statement, which was signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Protocol, Musa Ashoms, “Senator I. D. Gyang, Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Defence, has received with shock the heartbreaking news of the crash of a NAF aircraft that claimed the lives of seven personnel of the Nigerian Airforce including Flt. Lt. Henry Piyo, Co-Pilot of the ill fated aircraft.”
“While mourning their death, Senator Gyang calls for an in-depth investigation to ascertain what occasioned the crash and in so doing, necessary steps be taken by the Nigerian Airforce and government to avert future occurrence,” he stated.
Similarly, Dr Mwadkwon, in a press release endorsed by his Director on Media and Publicity, Friday Bako, mourned the demise of the late Piyo, describing him as a promising young man.
Late Flt Lt. Henry Piyo, died along side his co-pilot and five other air service men.
