Senator Abba Moro, has condemned in strong terms, the manner a social media reporter, Emmanuel Enyigwe attacked his person in his recent report on alleged cancellation of chieftaincy title bestowed on him and other illustrious sons of Idoma by the Ezza-Ezekunna community in Ado Local Government of Benue State.
Senator Moro, in a press release signed by him and made available to the media recently, claimed that the reporter in his account of the alleged cancellation as announced by a third class chief in Ado, Chief Ogenyi Ocheme, maligned him for accepting the title.
He said that if Chief Ogenyi Ocheme, the third class chief of Avovo Intermediate Chiefdom, actually said what Enyigwe reported, then it was unfortunate as the third class chief has neither the power to speak or act on behalf of the Ado Local Government Traditional Council let alone the Idoma Area Traditional Council, concerning such matter as contained in the report.
The Benue South representative maintained that, it was clear to him that the duo were working for a certain politician from the area who was their benefactor, to pull him down, a move he said would not succeed.
The Ogego Mebe K’Idoma, advised that, the Idoma Area Traditional Council and the exalted stool of the Och’Idoma shoud not be drawn into such petty matters and dirty politics as the institutions have a way of calling him to order, if he erred and not by passing a message through Ogenyi Ocheme and the Facebook wall of Enyigwe.
It would be recalled that there was a report on the social media wherein, one Emmanuel Enyigwe, alleged that the recent honourific chieftaincy titles bestowed on some Idoma leaders by the Igbo speaking community of Ezza-Ezekunna in Ado Local Government had been cancelled.
The report went ahead as saying that, the Idoma Area Traditional Council, headed by the Och’Idoma, Dr Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, was happy with the cancellation and ready to take punitive measures against the recipients, especially, Comrade Abba Moro
