The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Sen. Abba Moro recently inaugurated his campaign council for 2023 General Election at Hagai Suites, Otukpo, Benue State.

A press release by the senator’s campaign council’s Deputy Director (New Media), Emmanuel Eche-Ofun, said the council has the erstwhile Member of the House of Representatives, representing Otukpo-Ohimini Federal Constituency, Ezekiel Adaji, as the Chairman, and Dr Adakole Elijah as the Director General.

Sen. Moro, in his speech, thanked everyone for honouring his invitation. He, however, pointed out that the exclusion of some names from the list was not to undermine anybody, but that it was not possible to have everybody captured in the list.

His words: “I want to thank you for honouring this invitation.

“I do know that there are persons who are here whose names are not on the list, it’s not to undermine anybody, it’s just that everybody cannot be contained in the list of the campaign council.

“If you are here already, it shows a high degree of commitment, and I appreciate you for that. Everyone here should regard him or herself as a member of the Campaign Council.

“The assignment is very simple, but very difficult. It’s simple in the sense that you are called upon to deliver a candidate of the party; because Zone C is PDP, it is simple to go to your villages to convince our people, but your assignment is difficult because we are in a competitive world. In politics, it is not over until it is over.

“We must not be complacent. We must not relax and believe that we have already won. We must go out there to talk to our people and convince them to vote for us.”

The senator enjoined members of the campaign council and PDP faithful present not to allow themselves to be deceived by anybody.

He said: “Nobody should tell you to be tired of me or PDP as there’s no alternative to us for now. The alternative to PDP cannot be an association of strange bed fellows whose only desire was how to remove PDP from power in 2015, and not knowing what to do with power. APC has brought untold hardship to our people as evident in the decaying infrastructure, rising poverty, insecurity, poor economy, rising cost of living, and all the ills that are bedeviling our country today. We cannot afford the continuation of this sorry situation that we find ourselves in today.

“Also, the alternative to PDP cannot be the juvenile LP that is not known anywhere. We cannot afford to entrust our senatorial district or Nigeria into the hands of a party that lacks experience and capacity to govern.

“PDP remains the only party in the country that has the interest of the people at heart, so let’s support the party to win all its elections from bottom to top.”

On the crisis rocking PDP, Sen. Moro was confident and optimistic that the issue would be resolved before the general elections.

“I want to believe that before election in February, PDP will come back again as one united party to take governance at the centre. We will rebuild Nigeria from bottom to the top. It’s a task that must be done,” he stated.

In their separate goodwill messages, the representatives of the four federal constituencies in the senatorial district thanked Sen. Moro for not disappointing in the Senate. They assured him of their total support and full commitment to ensure that all the party’s candidates emerge victorious in 2023.

Abije Egwa, the state women leader, speaking on behalf of women, said Sen. Moro had performed beyond expectations and would get the full support of women to go back to the Senate.

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Adaji, said Sen. Moro selected capable and competent hands to run his campaign, and said he will not be disappointed.

Adaji thanked the senator for finding members of the council worthy of the appointment and gave the assurance that, with God on their side, victory would be gotten.

He charged members to go to their various communities to preach PDP and Moro, saying PDP remained the most organized political party in the country.

The highpoint of the ceremony was the inauguration of the campaign council including the management team.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included members of the State House of Assembly from Benue South, commissioners, council chairmen, PDP council chairmen, PDP candidates for House of Representatives and House of Assembly, party elders, etc.

The flag-off campaign will take place in Oju Town in Oju Local Government of Benue State on Monday, The Voice reports.
