Benue State Government has reiterated its desire to reposition the work force for better service delivery.
The State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Agbogbo Ode, stated this Tuesday at the state secretariat as he flagged off a “Productivity Sensitization Lecture” for management staff in his office which was facilitated by the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Benue State Office.
According to the Head of Service, all MDAs in the state will benefit from the lecture as part of value re-orientation in the service.
He maintained that the governor has made tremendous progress in trying to resuscitate the state civil service which includes: prompt payment of salaries and conducting needs assessment of various MDAs, noting that more plans are in the pipeline waiting to manifest.
He noted that before the current administration, civil service in the state was in a mess with all manner of vices that demoralised staff, including huge backlog of salaries and irregular payments.
The Head of Service said the situations are being phased out gradually and vigour has been re-injected into the system, assuring civil servants that no stone will be left unturned in revitalizing the sector.
“This is the first leg of the sensitization programme with civil servants in the office of the HoS. The plan is to extend it to all MDAs in the state.
“It is no longer news that His Excellency is desirous to reposition the civil service to make it more efficient and effective in terms of productivity”, he said.
In her remarks, the Benue State Coordinator, NPC, Aladi Achimogwu, who led the team, gave a brief overview of the establishment, saying its goal is to enhance productivity in all forms of service and goods delivery in the country to build a better Nigeria.
In an interview, one of the participants at the lecture, Winifred Kuraun, who was excited over the opportunity and the knowledge gained, said it will not only enhance productivity in her workspace but in her home also.
