Secretary to Benue State Government, Prof. Tony Ijohor, SAN, has called on the oeople of Ipav in Gboko Local Government Area to support Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration, in order to get more dividends of democracy.
Prof. Ijohor who stated this at the recent decamping of All Progressives Congress (APC) members into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Ameladu, Ipav in Gboko Local Government Area, commended the decampees for dumping the APC for the PDP and enjoined them to work assiduously at their various council wards for the success of the party.
While commending Governor Ortom for the massive renovation of streets in Gboko town, as well as appointment of many Ipav sons and daughters in his administration, Prof. Ijohor noted that the gesture has endeared the PDP to the people of Gboko and Ipav community in particular.
In their separate speeches at the ceremony, the PDP Chairman, Gboko Local Government, Gbamgson Adekwagh and National Ex-officio of the party, Prince Yandev Amaabai, advised the decampees to integrate themselves into the PDP as the door is open for equal treatment and benefits.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Gboko Local Government Council, James Kachina, who welcomed the decampees into the PDP, also commended Governor Ortom for the enabling environment he has provided for the PDP to grow from strength to strength and assured the decampees of his support at all times.
In their separate speeches, some of the decampees, including Chiahemba Adugu, Son Nyakor and Barnabas Tyoyila, who before the decamping was APC Youth Leader of Mbakpegh Council ward said, they were fascinated by the developmental exploits of the Ortom administration.
They also said, the sincerity of the PDP endeared them and they had decided to dump the APC, a party they said, had become crisis ridden and cut away from the common man to pitch tents with the PDP and called on the leadership of the PDP to consider them as prodigal sons that have returned to their father. They promised to work assiduously for the success of the PDP.
