Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Ngunan Addingi has urged Gwer people to ginger more support for Governor Ortom and embrace PDP.
Mrs Addingi gave the charge while addressing people at the defectors ceremony of members of the APC and other political parties to the PDP in Gwer Local Government recently.
According to her, Governor Ortom has recorded laudable achievements in the state and there is need to support him to do more.
The commissioner however, commended the defectors for dumping their former political party to join the ruling party (PDP) which was a welcome development. She also urged them to feel at home in PDP.
Earlier in an address, the chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Chairman of the occasion, Hon David Hwande, commended the defectors for taking a wise decision to join the main political party, PDP, and called for oneness in PDP in order to support Governor Ortom for more political dividends.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon John Ngbede, commended Gwer people for their tireless support in building PDP to a greater height and advised them to stand firm in supporting Governor Ortom to achieve more political dividends.
Hon Ngbede further revealed that PDP will soon be saddled with the activities leading to the 2023 general elections and the event proved that the party needs people who will join forces to ensure the success of the election.
Meanwhile, about 56 APC and other political party members dumped their former political parties to join PDP. The defectors were from three geopolitical axes in Gwer which includes Yonov led by Arc Roggers Ukpuu, Ngyohov led by Engr Nat Apir, Njirivi-led by John Aseen and Peter Damkor.
Responding on behalf of the defectors Engr Nat Apir revealed that they decided to dump their former political party to PDP, the ruling party that brings development, progress, unity, oneness and political dividends. He maintained that under the PDP administration, the Benue State Governor has done well in the state in terms of security, infrastructure and welfare of the people especially the people of Gwer local government and therefore decided to join PDP to support Ortom for more.
In a vote of thanks the PDP Chairman, Gwer Chapter, Hon. Emmanuel Zungwe commended the new members for their decision to join PDP which is the party saving Benue people from Fulani herders, and assured them of equal opportunity in PDP.
