Residents of Aliade town, Gwer Local Government Area of Benue State were thrown into fear and confusion as suspected cultists took over the town Wednesday night.

The Voice gathered that, the cultists started their operation at about 8:27pm with sporadic gun shots and ended at 2:48am, killing two persons, leaving many with serious injuries. The killed persons include Anom Aondowase AKA Skubi from Mbaba-Taraku town while the other is Legacy Aondofa.

Investigation revealed that the cultists came from different places which include Ikpayongo, Igbor, Taraku and Konshasha respectively.

The Voice also gathered that, the cultists started their operation in the heart of the town by killing Anom Aondowase (Skubi) at the Aliade garage and later at about 2:48am, killed Legacy Aondofa at Gracia Domini Secondary school along play ground, Tse-Gafa road Aliade North.

Meanwhile, the corpse of killed persons were deposited at the Aliade General Hospital Mortuary by the police.

Speaking while conveying the corpses, the police team headed by the Aliade Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Adese Neya, he expressed sadness over the display of violence by the cultists.

According to him, the community and entire Aliade people are not helping the police and other security agents with information of crime practices in the area or helping the police to fish out the bad boys.

The DPO, however, promised to reinforce his men to ensure the free movement and safety of the people in the area as investigation is in progress.
