Senator representing Benue East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, recently doled out 14 million naira as scholarship grant to 700 hundred students from his zone.
The senator’s charity organization called Torwua Suswam Foundation (TSF) handled the grant where beneficiaries went home with, 20, 000 naira each.
Addressing the audience at Hallydays Inn, Makurdi venue of the event, focal person for the scholarship, Fanen Mondo, expressed satisfaction that selection for the 700 beneficiaries was thorough and fair. He noted that students attending colleges of education, Polytechnic and other institutions would benefit in subsequent batches.
Vice Chancellor of the Benue State University, (BSU) Prof. Tor Iorapuu, said that the university would monitor beneficiaries to ensure better results.
The senator was represented at the event by Prof. Nicholas Ada, it also attracted academics, including the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. Richard Kimbir and his counterpart from BSU, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, and former Minister of Education, Prof. Nicholas Ada.
Recall last year the foundation disbursed N8 million to Law students from Zone ‘A’ studying various law schools across the country.
