Ter Makurdi, HRH, Vincent Aule, has expressed his desire to make Makurdi, the Benue State capital home for all, by creating the atmosphere of unity and peace.
Chief Aule who stated this at his oalace during an interaction with newsmen, recently said, he would ensure that all issues that result in crises are nipped in the bud and amicable solutions found for those that are lingering.
According to him, he intends to set up an elders advisory and consultative council with membership drawn from major stakeholders like the Ipusu, Masev, and Iharev communities who will be meeting at intervals to deliberate on issues that are bordering on security threats.
The traditional ruler who cited the land crisis at Mu settlement, assured that he would meet with the major factors to iron out grievances and restore peace to the troubled spot, noting that the situation currently existing in the area is that of uneasy calm and therefore, not healthy for development.
On the border demarcation involving the Nigerian Airforce and their host community, the Ugondo people, he said, it was almost settled when the indigenes embarrassed the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, by taking the matter to court.
He added however, that the group has hearkened to the voice of reason and has withdrawn the case and the governor would resume meeting with the Airforce to put the issue to rest.
The Ter Makurdi called on his co-contestants in the chieftaincy race to team up with him by sharing their ideas with him for the good of the people.
He further advised land owners to be cautious and involve tradioner rulers in selling their plots of lands, particularly when the transaction concerns up to five (5) plots and above. Chief Aule also enjoined land owners to restrain themselves from illegal charges to distort partronisers.
Ter Makurdi, however, commended Governor Ortom for ensuring that all security threats, including the herdsmen attacks against the people of his domain are adequately contained.
