The District Head of Mbaaka, Ushongo Local Government Area, Chief Atiyar Uvah wants Benue communities to stop engaging in land dispute and unite to end herdsmen invaders in the state.
Chief Uvah gave the advice recently at Tse Aondo, Binga Akaa, Ukan-Mbaivende, Mbaaka during the burial of Mama Victoria Gwaza-Aondo, step-mother of Head of News, Radio Nigeria Harvest FM, Abiem, Emmanuel Gwaza.
He observed that the increasing number of herdsmen militia attacks in some parts of the state was to take over the ancestral lands, hence the need to bury their differences and form a formidable force to kick the common enemy away.
The district head said the entire Ushongo people were saddened over the demise of their Wife and mother and promised not to abandon the children she has left behind.
Acting Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council, Comrade Martins Kajo, stated that Mrs Victoria Gwaza-Aondo completed her assignment on earth before answering the call of God and urged family, especially the children to follow the good foot steps of their mother.
Mr Terfa Ade who represented the member, Makurdi-Guma Federal Constituency, Benjamin Mdzondo and his Makurdi South State House of Assembly counterpart, Terwase Aondoaka and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader for Zone B, Mrs Margaret Shagher both described Mama Gwaza-Aondo as a committed politician who worked hard in building the party in Baar Council Ward of Makurdi, including six other local government areas of the zone.
The Chief Mourner and husband of the deceased, Chief Aloysius Gwaza-Aondo, appreciated all those who stood by them in their moment of grief and prayed God to bless them and grant the soul of his wife eternal rest.
Correspondents report that journalists, friends and political associates attended the burial.
