The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two persons while working on their farms in Kadarko, Keana Local Government Area of the state .
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the incident on Thursday in an interview with The Voice in Lafia .
According to him, two persons were allegedly killed while working farms in Kadarko , saying a team of combined security personnel had been deployed to Kadarko and environs to forestall any further attack in the community.
“This morning around 9am, a complaint was lodged at the Kadarko police division that yesterday at about 1700 hours , there occurred a farmer / herder clash at Icenyam village, a border community between Benue and Nasarawa State.
“Consequently,today at about 7:00 am, the corpses of one Terngu Nguuma, a female and Richard surname unknown was found in the bush in the village.
“Following the incident, security personnels comprising Mobile Police force , Special Anti- Robbery counter terrorism unit and conventional police personnel led by the divisional police officer of Kadarko division brought the situation under control while joint a patrol is ongoing to restore normalcy in the affected area.
“The state Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe also directed the deputy commissioner of Police in the state in charge of Criminal department to carry out a detailed investigation inorder to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring the perpetrators to book,” Nansel said.
Meanwhile , the Tiv Community leader in Kadarko, Mr Titus Chahur in an interview,alleged that the victims were attacked by unknown gunmen in Icenyam village of Kadarko Chiefdom.
He, called on the state government to take urgent action to stop the incessant killings in the area.
