The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has warned State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Benue State against projects duplication.

UBEC gave this warning recently, when a team lead by Engr Yissa Yakubu was in Benue State on a projects monitoring exercise to supervise ongoing projects undertaken by SUBEB utilizing 2019 matching grant.

Engr Yakubu, who cautioned that duplication in project execution will be frowned at, stated that UBEC expects viability in all aspects.

He said the essence of the monitoring is to assess the value attached to the matching grant, whether the aim is achieved or not.

He added that UBEC placed priority on projects monitoring, so as to compel states to use their money on viable projects.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman, SUBEB, Comrade Joseph Utse, assured the UBEC team of the board’s cooperation to ensure success of the exercise.

Comrade Utse, while assuring the team of adequate security during the monitoring exercise charged  those entrusted with the responsibility of taking them round to offer maximum cooperation and support so that the aim of the exercise in the state will be achieved.

Mike Kusah, Permanent Member 1 of the board, appreciated UBEC for its continuous support to basic education across states in Nigeria, stating that the relationship between UBEC and SUBEB must be maintained and encouraged to grow even in years to come.
