Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said every necessary lawful means will be adopted to protect and preserve the heritage of the state. He called for synergy to execute the counsel of the Lord over the state.
The governor stated this Saturday during the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International Eminent Persons Luncheon held at the Benue Metropolitan Hotel, Makurdi.
“For us, we are committed to executing the counsel of the Lord over the state. We must do what it takes to preserve the land and her people. Let us work with God and he will give us victory. There is no going back on the commitment of the state to doing the will of God.
“We have opportunity to rise up against all the injustices confronting us as a people. God is faithful. What is left, is for us to be faithful,” he stated.
He explained that God has been able to see him through the various challenges in the course of governing the state. “We appreciate God for helping us to be committed to issues of fairness, justice and equity.
“We dedicated the state to God. If not for the grace of God, Benue state would have been consumed. We will never give up on God. He is ever faithful,” Ortom stressed.
Governor Ortom disclosed that, because of the knowledge full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International provides, a lot of people have embraced the Lord and the gospel.
The governor, who appreciated God for the life of the guest speaker, Revd Prof. Mosy Madugba said, his prophetic and encouraging words were deeply appreciated and prayed that the prophetic words over the state should come to pass.
He disclosed that one thing that he has learnt in his over forty (40) years in the Lord’s vineyard, was the grace to seek the counsel and leadership of God, while calling on people of the state to seek to be with God.
The guest speaker, Revd Madugba, who spoke on the theme: ‘Possessing the gates and repossessing the gates,’ commended Governor Ortom for being there for the state.
“You have been a great fighter. We read about your exploits, we read about your standing up to defend the state. We read about your identifying with the sufferings of your people and when the land of Benue state was to be taken away politically from the people. We read how you stood. We were not here with you but we gloomily watched you on television when you stood up for your land.
“As somebody at the gates and in the gates; and at the head of the gates of Benue State, you have done very valiantly,” he stated.
He urged the governor to raise men who will also protect the state at the expense of their lives. “You need to take courageous decision for the wellbeing and future of Benue State,” he said.
“Your communities that lost their lands and buildings and are now staying in IDP camps are waiting to hear a voice of authority, those who have been raped and ravaged are waiting for the voice of authority that says ‘you can now go back’,” he added.
The Akwa Ibom born preacher, who is based in the United States called on the people of the state never to let down their guard. He prayed to God for the protection and preservation of the state.
