The Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Nasarawa State, Comrade Yusuf Iya has promised to mobilise over 50,000 workers in the state to vote for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), come 2023.
Iya stated this on Saturday during the official inauguration of Senator Tanko Al-Makura’s campaign/advisory council, held at Ta’al Conference Hotel in Lafia.
According to him, the decision to support the APC was due to Governor Abdullahi Sule’s commitment to addressing the plight of workers in the state since his assumption to office in 2019.
“Every civil servant is allowed to be part of the Labour Party, and by the nature in which the party was registered, I am supposed to be the Vice Chairman of the LP in Nasarawa state but I have chosen to be a member of the APC, that is why I am here and I stand boldly to support this administration.
“We have found good governance in the APC from the national to the state level. We will mobilise workers. We have over 22,000 workers at the state level and 30,000 workers at the local government level,” he said.
He also promised to support the former governor of the state and senator representing the Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Umaru Al-Makura, who is seeking re-election at the Senate ahead of the 2023 general election.
Speaking while inaugurating the campaign/advisory council, Senator Al-Makura promised the people of his zone of continuous quality representation at the National Assembly, if re-elected.
He urged party members to work together to ensure that all APC candidates emerged victorious at the polls.
Al-Makura, who boasted that he had done well as a senator in the zone, solicited for their support and votes to enable him succeed in 2023.
“There is no local government and development area that I did not touch physically or infrastructural.
“I will do more, if given another mandate come 2023,’’ Al-Makura said.
He, called on the people to vote for Tinubu, Sule and all APC candidates to succeed in the 2023, even as he urged them to avoid hate speeches, blackmail, lies and co-exist peacefully for development to thrive.
On his part, Governor Sule, represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe commended the senator for providing infrastructural development and empowering the people across the state.
The governor, urged voters of the zone and other parts of the state to elect Al-Makura, Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, Sule for governor of the state and all other APC candidates in the 2023 general election.
Responding on behalf of members of the campaign council, the Director-General, Mr Edward Auta appreciated the senator for the confidence reposed in them.
He pledged the commitment of the council to ensure his victory, come 2023.
The Voice reports that over 200 persons were inaugurated as members of the campaign/ advisory council to work for the re-election of the lawmaker.
