The National Council on Sports rose from its meeting in Abuja recently to again announced the shifting of the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival schedule to be hosted by the Edo State Government.

Voicesports monitors proceedings in Makurdi report that the National sports festival that suffered avalanche of shifting is again moved to April 2021. This is the fifth time that the National sports meet will be shifted amid the realities of COVID-19.

A statement by the Media aide to the Minister of Sports, Kola Daniel, says the postponement was as a results of a series of complaints by the participating states of paucity of funds.

He pointed out that host Edo State has also complained of the effects of the pandemic. He emphasised that before the April reschedule date the Local Organising Committee (LOC) will not lack funds. The Federal Government has promised to bear some of the financial burdens in hosting the multi sports fiesta.
