The Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) Northern Nigeria has presented an Icon of Excellence and Responsive Governance award to Governor Samuel Ortom.
The award which was presented to the Governor by the 19 state chapters of the wing in Northern Nigeria, including Abuja took place in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
The Benue State Governor who was represented at the occasion by the Benue State Christan Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman, Rev. Akpen Leva Wednesday presented the award to the Governor at the New Banquet Hall, Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
Rev. Leva informed the governor that, the wing acknowledged the commitment, doggedness and faithfulness of Governor Ortom to continue to stand firm in the defence and provision of development to his people.
He stressed that, the women wing also promised to persist in prayers for God’s guidance and protection of the governor to accomplish the purpose of God in Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Ortom thanked WOWICAN for finding him worthy for the award, while he assured that, he will never relent in standing for truth, justice, equity and fairness which is the bedrock of peace, unity, progress and development.
In another development, the governor said the consistent prayers of the people of Benue State on his personal life and administration has remained the secret of his success in life.
He stated this Wednesday at the grand finale of a three day fasting and prayers service organised by Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State chapter in collaboration with Benue State Government and held at the Chapel of Grace, Benue People’s House, Makurdi.
According to Governor Ortom, with God on his side, enemies may come in one way but they will flee seven ways and no one or group shall harm him. He testified that, God has been faithful and answerable, whenever, the people of the state come together in unity to pray.
Governor Ortom encouraged the people of the state to sustain prayers for the state, while he added that, with God all things are possible.
Earlier in a sermon, the Chairman, CAN Benue State chapter, Rev. Leva said, anyone or group of people that put their trust in God are like mount Zion which can not be removed.
Rev. Leva who charged Governor Ortom to cast all his cares and problems to God and assured him that, God will not disappoint him condemned the recent attack on the governor and called on federal government to step up efforts to curb the insecurity in the country and Benue State in particular.
