The Benue State chapter Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Engr John Enemari, Thursday presented a wheel chair to a physically challenged young man from Oju Local Government Area, Mr Agbo Liberty.
Presenting the wheel chair to Mr Agbo at the newly acquired secretariat of the party in Makurdi, Engr Enemari said the gesture is to advance the philosophy of the party which is to carter for the needy and the less privileged in the society.
He said the party believes that government can create equal opportunities for all members of the society.
The chairman disclosed that he was moved to compassion when he spotted the young man while driving along the streets of Oju town. He said he quickly called the local government chapter chairman of the SDP to find out details on how to reach out to the young man.
“I was passing on the streets of Oju when I saw this young man by the road, upon conversing with him, he told me he hails from Oju. I put a call through the Oju Chairman, Mr Akpa Emmanuel Iduma, he told me how the young man, despite his condition is strong and dedicated. So we came up with the idea of buying a wheel chair for him,” said the chairman.
Engr Enemari commended the local government chairman of the party for working in line with the party’s vision and charged the recipient to use the chair to the glory of God and in appreciation to the philosophy of the SDP.
Speaking, the Oju local government area chapter Chairman of SDP, Emmanuel Iduma commended the party and Engr Enemari for having compassion on the less privileged. He called on other illustrious sons and daughters to emulate the gesture.
In his reaction, the recipient, Mr Agbo Liberty thanked SDP, particularly the chairman for the donation and assured that he will testify to the goodness of the party to members of the Association of People Living With Diability and others as his contribution to the growth of the party.
