Lobi Stars FC Team Manager, Barnabas Imenger is dead.
The Voice Sports gathered that the ex Nigerian international died at the National Hospital in Abuja on Monday morning after a protracted illness.
The Media Officer, Lobi Stars FC, Austin Tyowua, confirmed the tragedy saying: “It is true that we lost our Team Manager 3:09am at the Abuja National Hospital.”
“The TM had been in and out of the hospital for a while. He was on life support and used oxygen to breathe at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi.
“Just yesterday, he was referred to the Abuja National Hospital. But he died in the hospital.
“Quite unfortunate that we lost a rare gem. It’s a great loss to Nigerian football. May his soul Rest In Peace,” he said.
Imenger who was a former Super Eagles striker in the mid-90s started his playing career at Young Stars FC, Makurdi.
He was part of the Super Eagles team that played at the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The late Imenger also laced his boots for Hawks FC, BCC Lions, El-Kanemi Warriors and El-Kadisa bin Saudi Arabia.
He was appointed Team Manager of Lobi FC in 2013. Born in May, 1971, he died aged 49.
