The Benue State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Yakubu Mohammad, has described the media as the voice of the voiceless.
Speaking when he paid a visit to the General Manager, Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation (BPPC), Ben Agande, the sector commander disclosed that the aim of his visit was to build synergy in order to reduce carnage on the roads.
According to him, the media is vital in the area of enlightenment and all other activities of the Corps. “We want the public to know that they have a role to play in ensuring that crashes were reduced to the barest minimum,” he stated.
He called on communities living along the roads to seek expert advice in trying to ensure order on the roads. He said the way they put blockades on the roads in a bid to control vehicle speed in most cases caused crashes.
The General Manager, BPPC, Mr Ben Agande disclosed that FRSC and the media were the only people that understood the country more. “The media is a unifier, The Voice newspaper is always out to help other sectors grow,” he said.
Mr Agande acknowledged the crucial roles FRSC is playing on the safety of Nigerians and assured the sector commander of the support of The Voice to ensure that it succeeded.
