The popular saying “Those who wait on the Lord shall not be disappointed” came to manifestation in the family of Mr and Mrs Isaac Ukpoju, when the couple dedicated their new born baby to God after 12 years of childlessness.
Mr Ukpoju, who is an editor with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Nasarawa State Council, during the dedication of Miss Blessing Hadassah Isaac on Sunday at Dunamis Gospel Centre, Koroduma Central, Karu Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, said his joy knew no bounds as God has finally put smiles on their faces after 12 years of prayers and waiting.
He said ‘I want to thank God for answering our prayer after 12 years of marriage.
“I will continue to worship God as long as I live and I pray God to give us the resources and strength to bring her up in the way of the Lord.”
The NAN Editor also thanked his family members, colleagues and other well wishers, who stood and prayed with him and his wife throughout the period.
On her part, Mrs Juliana Ukpoju said “I don’t know how to express myself today because it has been 12 years of numerous experiences but I can say that my joy today knows no bounds.
“We went through trials, persecutions due to our childlessness but God brought our expectations to reality,” she said.
She called on couples, who are still searching for the fruit of the womb never to give up hope in God and remain firm in prayers, believing that He will beckon at the appropriate time.
“I prayed, hope and waited on God and today it has come to reality. I am grateful to God,” she concluded.
Earlier, Pastor of the church, Elvis Mike-Oche, called on parents not to relent in the bringing up of their children in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The pastor, who read from the book of Psalm 127:3-5 said ‘children are heritage of the Lord and happy is the man who had quiver full of them.”
“Children are special gifts and blessings from God. Therefore, parents must put in their best to bring them up in the right way so that when they grow up, they will not depart from the Lord,” he said.
He commended the NAN editor and other couples for presenting their children before the Lord and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
