Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level to do more in resolving the crisis that arose, following the national convention of the party, stating that everyone in the party was important in the task of rescuing the country.
He made the call Monday at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi during a meeting of the party’s stakeholders.
The governor maintained that he always stands for equity, fairness and justice. “I have stated that the management of the convention and the crisis that arose was not properly addressed.
“The leadership of the party was not able to deploy its internal conflict management skills to solve the problems that arose. The leadership of the party was not fair to Governor Wike. For me, it is better we work together. What will help us is when we do things correctly. When things are not done properly, I don’t hide my feelings. I always voice out,” he stated.
Governor Ortom reiterated his committment to ensuring that the PDP wins all its elections, stating that the party remains united in the state.
The governor, who disclosed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been demarketed in the state, expressed appreciation to members of PDP for their support.
“As a law abiding party, we were able to conduct our primaries according to the provisions of the law,” he added.
He acknowledged the commitments of gubernatorial and other aspirants to the success of the party and urged them to sustain the tempo.
“The party is the platform. If we maintained the platform, we are sure of clinching a position in the near future,” he said.
